Tx Hash means Transaction Hash and is also known as Transaction ID (TxID). It consists of alphanumeric characters and is an identification number given for a Bitcoin transaction. Every single transaction that users generate in the Bitcoin blockchain has this unique identifier. Similarly, transactions on the Ethereum blockchain will have a unique Tx hash. Every transaction on the Litecoin blockchain will also have a TxID.

Use of TxHash and TxID

All transactions on the blockchain are publicly available. Once you make a payment or transfer coins to another address, the transaction gets broadcasted. A Tx Hash ID will also get generated. Using the transaction ID, one can easily track and trace the status of a transaction. They will know the transfer's full details, including senders' and receivers' addresses, total amount sent, the date, block height, fees, and the number of confirmations.

Transaction Hash and IDs contain no personal information, so it is completely safe to share. But how are these transaction hash and IDs useful? It is useful in many ways: For example, you can share this information with the service provider to let them know the transfer status. Also, you can share your transaction ID with the merchant to confirm the transaction is successful.

Where to find transaction hash ID?

Suppose you are looking for your hash ID of any cryptocurrencies. In that case, you should refer to your profile on the exchange in the payment history. If you couldn't find it, you better contact the exchange's support.

Can I trust the result given by a txID?

The quick answer to this question is Yes. Of Course, that is if you are getting your results from an actual block explorer and not a phishing page! Every transaction differs from other transactions that took place on the same blockchain, for example; the txID of your transaction to Bob is different from the txID of your transaction to Susan.

And transactions made on one blockchain differ from transactions made on other blockchains, for example; the txID of the transaction on the Bitcoin blockchain is different from the txID of the transaction on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain. For the fact that blockchain itself is transparent and decentralized, everyone can know the details of every transaction equally.

Information like Sender's address, Receiver address, Amount of coins or tokens transferred, Time and Date of which transaction took place and more. Depending on the type of cryptocurrency, you can find the transaction hash/id by searching in an exchange. Below are some suggested exchanges:

How to find txID on the ETH blockchain?

Let's say you're looking for a certain transaction someone made on the Ethereum blockchain but you only have their wallet address.

To do so, we need 2 things: the wallet public address and etherscan. Etherscan is the top Ethereum block explorer and of course a very famous one as well.

Like Blockchain block explorer, Etherscan also provides much useful information about the transaction that took place on ETH blockchain such as, if the transaction is confirmed or not, the value of the transaction, block height ….

So without wasting any more time, let's do this. So, we need a wallet address, to begin with:

This is their landing page, enter the wallet address in the search section and search.

The result of the search will be something like this, here you can see information about the wallet you just searched for.

The balance of coins and tokens in the wallet, their value and more.

Scroll down a little bit and in the section below is the thing we're looking for: a list of all transactions made.

By clicking on the txHash (Transaction Hash) of the transaction you can enter a page where you can see more detailed information about that transaction.

It will look something like this image:

You can see its status as if it was successful or not, the timestamp which shows the exact time and date which the transaction took place, the Sender's address (because this is a deposit report),

You can also see the contract it interacted with, transaction action(which tells us what was done during this transaction), transaction fee, gas price,…

All of this valuable information can be gained only by knowing the wallet's public address.

This is why the blockchain is so transparent. Of course, it wouldn't cross the lines of privacy by giving out the wallet owner's data, not that it has it in the first place.

1. Open your Binance wallet and click on Owerview

How to find my TxID on Bitcoin?

1. Open your Bitcoin.com wallet

2. Select your BCH or BTC wallet, depending on what transaction you are looking for

3. You should now see all the sent and received transactions from the selected wallet

4. Tap/click on the transaction you need the transaction ID for

5. Scroll down and tap  "View on blockchain"

6. You will see the transaction ID displayed on the block explorer along with all the details of the transaction. To copy the txid just tap/click on the copy icon next to the transaction string.

How to find my TxID and HashID on Trust Wallet?

1. Open your Trust Wallet app and click on the coin/ token.

2. Click on the transaction.

3. Click More Details.

4. A website (blockchain explorer) will then open on your phone. Your TXID is a long list of numbers and letters and will be labeled as the TX Hash, Extrinsic hash, Transaction ID, TX ID, or something similar.

How to find my TxID and HashID on Coinbase?

1.Open Coinbase dashboard and click on Send Bitcoin

2.A small window will pop up you should click on Transaction confirmed.

3.Here you can see Block number and HashID and TxID.

How to get information about transactions using txID?

To get information on a certain transaction you need 2 things: txID (obviously) and a block explorer. A block explorer is like your browser but for blockchain. It's used to search between different transactions and contracts.

For this example, we're going to use a txID from one of the most (if not the most) famous transactions in crypto history; the Pizza Day transaction. If you are a crypto enthusiast you have probably heard of this story before, the story of how a person gave away 10,000 bitcoins in exchange for 2 large pizzas. What a trade, right?
